Tombstone Tales
Taylorsville's Oldest Venue
Taylorsville Arts Council is returning to the oldest “venue” they ever play… Taylorsville Cemetery (4575 S. Redwood Road).
“Tombstone Tales tells the history of prominent members of our community who have passed away,” Taylorsville Historic Preservation Committee Chair Susan Yadeskie explains. “It’s a very unique show. Audience members walk to several different headstones in the cemetery and hear short stories about each of those people. The stories are presented by performers in period clothing, speaking as if they are the deceased person. But none of it is ‘scary.’ It simply brings Taylorsville history to life in an entertaining way.”
Watch the 2022 trailer for Tombstone Tales here. In all, a compilation of nine videos features the event that was hosted in August by the Taylorsville Historic Preservation Committee and Taylorsville Arts Council at the Taylorsville City Cemetery. In an effort to preserve and convey Taylorsville's history, volunteer actors portray a cross-section of prominent community trailblazers, almost all of whom are buried at the cemetery.
